Dental Implants in Memphis, TN
-
A missing tooth is both a chewing problem and a cosmetic one. Salmon Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery places dental implants in Memphis for patients who need a single tooth replaced, an implant at the time of an extraction, or implants to stabilize a denture.
Implant surgery is performed by Dr. Bryant Salmon, DMD, MD, a board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The office is at 5565 Murray Avenue, Suite 102, in East Memphis, and was formerly McRae Wilson Oral Surgery Group.

A single implant replaces the root of a missing tooth. After the implant is placed and the site has healed, your restorative dentist makes the crown. The surgical visit and the crown visit are separate. Bring any referral and recent x-rays from your dentist.
-
Some broken or decayed teeth can be removed and replaced with an implant at the same visit. A consultation and imaging decide whether the site is a candidate. Not every extraction is suitable for an immediate implant.
Patients under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation.
-
Several implants can be placed to stabilize a denture and improve chewing and speaking. The number of implants and the type of denture depend on the exam, the scan, and the plan from your restorative dentist.
-
If the jaw does not have enough bone to hold an implant, grafting can rebuild the site. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are trained in grafting the upper and lower jaws. Platelet-rich fibrin, made from the patient’s own blood, is available when it is appropriate to support healing.
-
Planning uses the in-office cone beam CT and intraoral scanner, plus any films your dentist sends. Additional images can be taken at the office if needed.
-
The first appointment is a consultation to review the diagnosis and options. Surgery is often possible the same day. A complex medical history or a staged graft-and-implant plan may need a second appointment. Anesthesia options are local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, and IV sedation. IV sedation has the same preparation rules as other office anesthesia: nothing to eat or drink for eight hours, and a responsible adult to drive you home.
Written and video instructions are provided after implant surgery. Call 901-767-0088 with questions, including after hours using the number given at your visit.

Payment is due when the service is rendered. An insurance estimate, if you have coverage, is requested before the procedure and is not a guarantee of payment. The estimated patient portion is collected that day. Cash, check, major credit cards, and CareCredit are accepted.
