Tooth Extractions in Memphis, TN
-
Salmon Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery removes broken, cracked, decayed, and impacted teeth at the Murray Avenue office in East Memphis. Extractions are done by Dr. Bryant Salmon, DMD, MD, a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
Your dentist may refer you when a tooth cannot be restored, when an infection has not responded to other treatment, or when the extraction is expected to be surgical. Bring the referral slip and any x-rays. Films can be emailed to bsalmonoms@gmail.com before the visit, and the office can take additional images, including a cone beam CT, if they are needed.

The consultation explains the diagnosis and the options. Surgery can often be done the same day. If the medical history is complex, or if the plan needs more imaging or medical clearance, treatment is scheduled for a later date. Patients under 18 need a parent or guardian at the consultation.

An extraction visit may also include bone grafting if an implant is planned later, or an immediate implant if the site is a candidate. Infected teeth and other oral infections are evaluated and treated with surgical or non-surgical options, depending on the exam. Exposure of impacted canine teeth, often requested by an orthodontist, is also performed here.

Local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, and IV sedation are available. For IV sedation, do not eat or drink for eight hours beforehand. A responsible adult must remain in the office and drive you home. Do not drive for 24 hours after anesthesia.

You receive verbal instructions, written instructions, and the office’s extraction videos before you leave. Follow those instructions on gauze, rinsing, food, and medication. Use the after-hours number if a problem comes up when the office is closed, and call 901-767-0088 during business hours.

Payment is due at the time of service. If insurance applies, an estimate is obtained first and is not a guarantee of coverage. The estimated patient portion is collected on the day of treatment, and the claim is filed as a courtesy. Cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and CareCredit are accepted.
